CARTOON EVALUATION

For Unit 5 in Grade 10, I integrated a project within the unit. In this project, students have to select a cartoon, evaluate how suitable it is for children, and then make a brochure in which they recommend a list of cartoons for parents to allow their children to watch and another list which they find not suitable.

The project seems interesting but I think it is hard to apply it with students especially since students will have to present videos to the class. Doesn't it take a lot of time?

No doubt this project is rewarding to students both from behavioral and academic sides. It is rather long ,though .and I wonder whether average achievers will be able to pull it through in time ,that is not to mention how the the low achievers will do .Nevertheless ,it is worth the time it takes because of its richness ,variety ,and benefit. The links are also worth investigating by parents as they carry alot of ideas about tv viewing that all parents should be aware of in my opinion .

Yes, Sanaa, it is rather long but because the project is broken down into clear steps, students usually don't find it difficult to go through. Low achievers usually enjoy this project more than others because they get the chance to do something from their real life, that is watching TV, for an academic purpose, and that is something they don't often get to do.

The project seems interesting and students can do it. It boosts their self confidence and enriches their personalities.

Seriously?! Like are there any cartoons that are not suitable for kids? Aren't cartoons supposed to be for kids?
Actually this topic seems to be so interesting to me, as a mom. This makes me go search and investigate more.
Thanks for the worthy alert!
