Newsletter

Working with teachers in both Manahil School and Abrar Educational Center,I found that publishing their personal experiences through "Teacher to Teacher", a newsletter, was an interesting and productive activity. This publication allowed teachers to write freely reflecting on their profession. In addition, teachers could learn from one another. I believe what gives such a publication importance is that the content is directly related to the teacher's reality and day-to-day encounters which he/she can associate and relate with.
The following are links to different issues of "Teacher to Teacher" of which the first 2 issues were published in Manahil School and issues 3 - 5 were publisheded in Abrar Educational Center.

Issue 1
Issue 2
Issue 4

I really LIKE. I was amazed at the part talking about how class journals allow the teacher to know about sutdents' anxieties or happy times. It really shows some sincere care and reaching out to those students when u see such a kind of Teacher to Teacher Talk. Unfortunately it's not the typical kind of talk that happens in our teacher rooms at lunch time. Instead it's more like, "that student is really good" or "that student has no future". I mean they are very topical and only help those doing good to do better without trying to help the students who could be having some problems. In other words I think more attention and positive reinforcment should be directed towards the students with lower grades.

This is very inspiring. I have taught at several schools in Beirut and have yet to see this kind of elaborate and original work.
